Efforts to Overcome Marine and Coast Damage

Indonesia is a country whose the areas are mostly surrounded by coast and marine. As we know, in the marine and coast, we can discover variety of existing animals and coral reefs. People who live in coast are called coastal community. Coastal community’s profession consists of fishers and merchants. Coastal community depends so much on creature in the coast and marine because, their livelihood is gained from marine. However, the excessive use of catching creature in the marine can affect a bad impact to fish’s life, coral reefs and other creatures in the coast and marine. In according to Hermansyah and Febriani (2020), in fact, beside nature factors such as hurricane, global climate change, earthquake and so on, human factors are also the cause of the damaged coral reef. Even, the damage that occurs by human factors is more dangerous because the impact is permanent. The catching activities such as the use of poisoned chemical, explosives, as well as uncontrolled catching become the factors. Despite a lot of disadvantageous that have been carried out by human in marine and coast, we are still able to overcome them by making a social campaign about how important natural resources of coast and marine are, applying coral reef transplantation and punishing people who use dangerous fishing tools.

Firstly, social campaign is very useful to increase coastal community awareness particularly about how important natural resources of coast and marine are. The content of it can be about the reduction of garbage waste especially inorganic garbage. Inorganic garbage can spread pollution to the sea water. Just imagine what will happen if the fish eats an inorganic garbage. It will be poisoned and the population of the fish will gradually decrease. Moreover, if the fish is eaten by humans, they will feel itchy, stomachache, or even worse dead. This social campaign can be conducted through a printed ads on newspaper, an related event, or social media namely Facebook, Instagram, or Whatsapp. Recently, social media is accessible by people across country including coastal community. If it is provided creatively, a social campaign can be very contributive and coastal community will be educated through the ease of information it gives. Then, the natural resources of coast and marine will restore as time goes by.

After that, applying coral reef transplantation can be an effort to do rehabilitation of coral reef which is increasingly broken. Doing coral reef transplantation is capable of making a big impact because, coral reef plays an important role as a place for marine biota to live. The functions of coral reef transplantation are to expand the coral reef area and restore coral reef ecosystem. Coral reef transplantation is able to increase the population of fish that is nesting in coral reef as well. According to Subhan et al. (2014), the materials to do coral reef transplantation method were from rack, nets, and substrate. This early method gave satisfying result and it continued in thousand islands up to 2004. Therefore, nowadays, it is implemented in some areas in Indonesia where there are activities of coral reef rehabilitation. Educated people who are credible in marine field should grant the coral reef transplantation. Government must also assist the stakeholder to ease the process of coral reef transplantation because, by the success of coral reef transplantation, it can contribute to tourism income.

Furthermore, after increasing the awareness of coastal community through social campaign and finding method by implementing the coral reef transplantation, the next step is to prevent the bad fishers to use a dangerous fishing tools. Based on article 7 of the constitution of 2021 says that fishing catch tools which are dangerous are fishing catch tools that threaten biota extinction, cause the destroyed habitat and endanger user safety. Government must firmly sentence the bad fishers who keep using dangerous fishing catch tools in order to make them deterred. If the user of dangerous fishing catch tools is prevented, the coral reef will be safe and preserved from impact which causes damage. So that, the coral reef is able to be restored.

Finally, from those statements above, we can conclude that marine and coast are very essential for us in particular coastal community. People have damaged coast and marine caused by the excessive use of dangerous fishing tools. Nevertheless, we are capable of solving the disadvantageous by doing social campaign that can increase people awareness, applying the coral reef transplantation in order to restore the coral reef and fish habitat, as well as making a rule to make dangerous fishing tool user deterred. In addition, Not only government or coastal community but also people around the world must protect marine and coast because, by preserving coast, we can save marine biota and its habitat from damage. Therefore, it depends on our effort to save their life sustainable because we need the coast and marine at all.

Fear of Missing Out and Its Impacts

Recently, human being has invented technology called internet. Internet is very helpful for people to communicate, study, improve the human resources ect. With the invention of internet, it cannot be separated with social media. Social media has been used by people ranging from young even up to the old one. Social media can affect people to keep up to date in socializing on social networking. It boosts desire of people not to be left behind by people around them especially on social media. It is directly proportional with a phenomenon called fear of missing out. Fear of missing out, which is usually called FOMO, constitutes a psychology desires in humans being that make them afraid of being left behind or anxious to people around them that are having better life than them. Beside increasing the effect of FOMO, social media generates negative and positive impacts for people who are suffering FOMO and use social media either.

Firstly, FOMO can cause a negative effects for people who have low self-regulation. Self-regulation means that an individual that is able to control their mind to hold their behavior. If people don't have a self-regulation, it can make them waste their time on social media and they are not capable of living their life productively. They always think to update on social media to make them seen happy by people around them and do not focus on their job or study. They will ignore their obligation because of being distracted of feeling that can not be separated with surrounding environment around them.

Secondly, Even though FOMO can cause a negative impact, there are not a lot of people who know that FOMO has a positive impact as well. Based on studied by Hodkison (2016), FOMO could be utilized to make a good marketing. He said that FOMO as commercial and non-commercial, was designed specifically to encourage consumer to utilize a chance to do "act persuading". After that, He wrote that we could find journal or article that supports FOMO's positive impact such as Winning with FOMO' (Marketingmag, 2016),'Cruiselings: A new Breed of FOMO' (Travel Weekly, 2014) and 'MTV and Flight Centre Create Travel "FOMO""(Mediaweek, AQ7 2016).

Finally, There are a lot of impacts that are caused by FOMO. It can be positive or negative impacts. We can utilize the positive impact as a marketing to persuade our consumer or we can be drown with the feeling of being left behind. It depends on our self-regulation because we need to be able to control our behavior to be more productive in this technology era.

A few words for the Future

May 29th 2020 was the date when i wrote about this outbreak on my blog. Our next generation might not figure out what was happening back then. If any generation had an extraordinary era, that time was one of era my recent generation has felt. We were faced with a circumstance where we were terrorized by a new virus called "corona". Scientists hadn't been able to invent the vaccine of corona, even worse, the medical staffs were threatened by the deadly virus due to the spread from the infected patient they tried to cure. Because of how deadly this virus was, it caused some unique moments like we should do a social-distancing and work from home.

Firstly, this pandemic forced us to stay away from each other at least one meter. Government told us to keep our distance with others because this virus could spread to one and another through physical contact and air. We were always asked to wear a masker and always cleaned our hands using sanitizer. Yaa, it made us so uncomfortable because we didn't get used to with it, moreover, when we needed to spend a bit money to buy them. Because of the importance of wearing masker and using sanitizer, there were number of people who hoarded them. It increased the cost of masker and sanitizer.

After that, this one might be a good news for procrastinators. We were suggested to work from home. For people who loved to sleep and did lazy stuffs at home, this condition wasn't that bad. However, the society's economy declined sharply. Shop, campus, school, ect were closed up to unpredictable time in order to limit the spread of corona. Nevertheless, we must do the studying activity using online media and we could order some food by online.

Finally, from this tragedy, we should learn and survive against anything that happened to us. I hope, this pademic would be over in this year, 2020 and i wish, our next generation wouldn't have to experience this terrifying circumstance. With this, i am Nurendra Riastyanto, signing out.

A little bit about coastal community

Beach ! What comes to your mind when talking about it ? is it about surfing, wave, or sunbathing ? I know what's on your mind, you must be thinking about BIKINI !! However, There are a lot of things we can discuss about beach beside bikini. Now, in this article, i want to share my experience about short interview on coastal person on the Widuri beach, district of Pemalang. I emphasize to you why i say that it's a coastal community instead of fishermen because, i not only talk about fishing activity but also the role of the office, and the income of a ship captain.

First of all, this was the first time for me to directly interview a coastal person and it's Mr. Wasman who was lucky to be interviewed by me back then. He said that as a captain of the ship, he had role to drive the ship from the sea port to the middle of the sea. Before leaving to sail to the middle of the sea, he needed to meet his team in Bali island. After that, he and his team went to the place called fishing ground where they could do their job. The location of the fishing ground was in the Hindia ocean which was near to Christmas island. It took about two hours for them to reach the destination. Amid the sea, they caught the fish by spreading the longline fishing. The longline fishing consists of some fishhooks which are tied on horizontal rope.

Then what else ? Yes, we've come to talk about the role of the office. I had thought that the coastal community's jobs were only about sailing, fishing, and selling the result of fishing. But now, after interviewing Mr. Wasman, my mind was widely opened. Coastal community right now was advanced enough. They cooperated between the sailing one and the one who works on the land. Ya, they had office on the land. The roles of the office were to communicate the sailing one about the weather on the sea ect. Okay, without intending to waste moments to be written on this post, i'm just trying to say that actually offices had so many roles for the coastal community. I just couldn't mention it one by one :). Above all, coastal community civilization is not poor like we thought it used to be.

When we talked about a work, it wouldn't be far from salary or income. Mr. Wasman said that he could earn money by about Rp. 500.000.000 after going home from sailing amid the sea. He said it could happen before Mrs. Susi Pujiastuti took charge as minister of fishery and marine because, Mr. Wasman had ever become a captain of taiwanese ship. So, after he moved to Indonesian ship captain, he was only able to earn money by about Rp.200.000.000. What a high income for someone who never got a formal education at school like Mr. Wasman.

Finally, we could highlight that there were a lot of things we could discuss about coastal community. They were also advanced enough and did not fall behind. After that, with a hard work, they could earn income which was not small. We should be inspired by coastal community's life and never underestimate them.

Starvation in Africa

Everybody must have ever heard about human right. Human right is a right for every person to get deserve place, deserve food and deserve life. Even though human right has been made from long time ago, there is still a starvation that happens in the world especially in Africa. Starvation crisis in the Africa today is very alarming and we need to overcome it. It is about fourteen countries in Africa which feel the starvation  because a lot of countries in Africa don’t use good technology, the location can’t be reached by the other, and the African people need to work harder to get some food from plant.

Firstly, countries in Africa don’t use good technology whereas technology is able to contribute a lot to human’s life. By not using good technology, it means that countries in Africa can’t cultivate their food, so the limitation of the food will slowly reduce. If that happens, there will be hard to find a food anymore because African just count on nature, then the resources in Africa will reduce as well. After that, the location of countries in Africa can’t be reached by other country. People who care with the starvation in Africa will feel hard to help the starvation victims. The places which are so far and the dangerous complicate donor to deliver food to Africa. There are so many wild animals in Africa, people who want to help the starvation victims need to be careful to cross the dangerous area. Furthermore, transportation facilities in Africa is not adequate. It causes rural communities in Africa is hard to be reached so they become more abandoned.

Then, the African people need to work harder to get some food from plant. Areas mostly surrounded by desert make people difficult to develop agriculture. In addition, the change of temperature between day and night in Africa is contrast. Not all of plants can survive against the change of temperature like in Africa, so they must find the plant which is suitable with the condition in Africa or carry out another way to get some food other than from farming.

Secondly, even though there are so many problems that cause a starvation in Africa, they still can be solved if every country in Africa want to work together. Rich Countries like Egypt or South Africa must help the other country. They should lend some money to the poor one. By lending some money to the the poor country, it means that the poor country can increase the development of the technology of the country. If they have good technology, they will be able to cultivate their food and the starvation in Africa will reduce.

Beside being able to cultivate the food, having good technology is also able to contribute a lot to the effort of solving problem in Africa because technology can develop the research to identify new seeds, actually for the plants who can survive in high temperature. Farming cactus can be one of the solution because it contains water that can be utilized for plenty of things.

After that, African should improve their relationship with other, if they have good relationship among countries in Africa, they can communicate easier with the other and they can exchange the resources they have. If that happens, needs of everyone in Africa can be got easier. Beside having good relationship and communication among countries in Africa, African should cooperate with countries outside of Africa Continental, moreover most of countries outside of Africa are more prosperous than most of countries in Africa. As It was estimated by John Templeton Foundation that donation to Africa exceeded $600 billion. There were several industrialized countries that contributed Africa from poverty and the total is in excess of $100 billion annually, McPhail (2009) If they help country's finance in Africa, there will be easier to build good transportation, and the way to the cooperation can be easier to be delivered. Then, African must have high education, they won’t be able to use technology if they have no education. By having a high education, they can improve their skill and they will be smart in solving their problem.

Finally, There still happens a starvation even though human right has been made.  We as the one of rich countries must be able to help them because we must help each other. But, countries in Africa can’t just count on the other countries help, they have to try to overcome their problem because it’s their problem. It means that the way that they have to do to help them is from theirselves. If African countries want to improve their welfare, they must not give up with the condition they have, they must try harder because it depends on their own effort.

My extraordinary majors

Thrilled and excited? These feelings might be desires that are felt by graduated senior high school students. They would face a new challenge ahead especially for them who wanted to continue their study to the next level namely college. As a person who had ever felt in that condition, it happened to me as well. I couldn't hide my enthusiasm when I was accepted by one of private colleges in the District of Bandung. At that time, I was officially colleger majoring visual communication design. Nevertheless, I was concerned with the focus of visual communication design in my college which was a little bit different from other colleges. Actually, instead of focusing on art, my major tended to study management. I learned art actually at the beginning of the semester but in the next semester, we had to pick a concentration that was divided into two things, there were technopreneurship and multimedia marketing. After undergoing it, it's not that bad anyway. I learned marketing theories such as deciding segmentation, targeting, and positioning, I also learned how to promote a product, became an entrepreneur, etc. What they wanted to emphasize was to make a promotion design which was as efficient as the target market's need.

Well, I think that's all the information about my incredibly valuable experience of my undergraduate degree. I will continue to my master degree.

My master degree started in October 2017. I was lucky to be accepted in a favorite college in Bogor and my major was communication development. Communication development had a different focus from communication in general. If common communication studied advertising, broadcasting, promotion, etc, in communication development, we learned about how to empower the lower-middle-class profession such as coastal community, fisherman, farmer, etc. We needed to be sensitive to social issues related to those professions. It's a bit difficult for me to do the thesis but I believed that no matter how hard it was if you pushed the limit, the limit was only in the sky.

How Mr. Roberto Mancini inspires me in football

To be successful, we need to dream high. By dreaming high, we will able to get motivation and spirit to deliver the dream we want to achieve. Honestly, the dream that i want is to be a football manager and Mr. Roberto Mancini is my inspiration. Why Roberto Mancini ? Because he was quite successful as Internazionale Milano manager. Moreover, he has granted some trophies for Inter and the important thing is that he was the one who broke the curse for Internazaionale Milano that couldn't win a trophy for years. Even though it's been too late for me to reach the dream but, at least i could deliver it through video game (lol). In this article, i would discuss about player formation and one of the best tactic that Mr. Roberto Mancini implemented during his job as manager in Internazionale Milano. One of my favourite Roberto Mancini's formation in Internazionale was 4-3-1-2. for the goal keeper there was Julio Cesar, for the center backs there were Materazzi and Cordoba, for the full backs there were Chivu and Maicon, for the defensive midfielders there were J. Zanetti, Cambiasso and Vieira, for attacking midfielder there was Stankovic and for the strikers there were Crespo and Ibrahimovic.

The full back funcionated to bring the ball from behind to the front through dribbling, but if the opponent marked the full back directly, the full back would make a long pass to the front. The midfielder played a role as a players who held up the ball. The purpose was to possess the ball. The midfielder would pass the ball depending on the strategy. If the tactic were passing down both flank. They would pass to the full back who played a role as a wings but, if the tactic were passing through the middle, they would pass the ball to the play maker. The play maker would be the bridge from the midfielder to the target man. The target man had a free role in order to confuse the opponent's defense. After the opponent's defense focused on the target man, he would pass the ball to the finisher. Before getting the ball from the target man, the finisher needed to place his position into a free position.

Finally, this was the strategy Mr. Mancini had implemented during his time taking a charge in Internazionale Milano. He was one of my favourite football manager. He really inspired me in implementing football's strategy. After Mr. Roberto Mancini, There are still managers that absolutely inspire us about the strategy of football. Look forward to other articles written by me. Thank you for reading, with this, i, Nurendra Riastyanto, sign out.
